Bass & Tog Set Up

I'm trying to find a rod thats a good match for an Abu 7000c3 with 30# Fireline Crystal to use for bass, blue fish and tog. The Chaos K15 - 50 (7') and the Seeker BA 85-7C look interesting but I'd appreciate a little insight on these and other choices.

Also, any thoughts on a good Newell in this class range?

Hi,

If you want a factory rod I like the lamiglas BL 7030 and BL 7040. I use a Newell 332 on both rods.

I use the lami CGBT 84 1M and CGBT 84 1MH blanks which are the same blanks they use on the Factory rods.

The BL 7030 is 7' and rated for 30# class line. This rod will handle 16 oz sinker weight.

The BL 7040 is 7' and will easily handle 20 oz sinker weight plus. This is a great 3 way swivel bucktail rod in a heavy current and also for cod fish or deep water sea bass etc. A great Montauk eeling stick, very sensitive.

I also fish these blanks using 10 ans 12 oz sinkers for tog and they work.

Hope this helps.

I just started looking at these reels, after having selected a rod. Going with a St Croix Premier 17-40 lb (med-heavy/fast action). Cost is $140. Very light and responsive - good for upto 3 oz casting - prob 4 oz for jigging.
