| Plugmeister and I did some off the cuff testing in the shop the otherday and found a loop to loop connection to be stronger than an Albright. We tied the knots then stuck it in the vise and pulled. The Albright tended to cut at the knot, the loop to loop would break the line well away from the connection. By no means scientific but food for thought. Thoughts?? | ||

| Bryan, Interesting. Did you use a scale to see what pd. it was breaking at? Our bass rods have 50lb pp braid to 50lb leader. I've not seen it happen and am wondering what you used. Better to check/test now in the off-season than when bass/zilla is on the line.

| No, like I said not to scientific. He had a spool of 50lb. mono, I believe Trilene Big Game clear and Power Pro in green I think. Put the mono spool in the vise, tied the connection and put a screwdriver through the spool of the braid and pulled. After inspection and a feel for the break I think a surgens loop on either line looped three or more times is stronger. The knot is bulky but this is for top shotting with braid, too much stuff for a leader. I would guess we were well over 50lbs. But it was interesting to see the braid break with the loop to loop knot. We only tried a few combos. In theory you should rarely see this knot anyway. | ||
