I usually tie a loop of somesort in the mono, Spider hitch, Bimini or even surgens loop. Then use an Albright to connect to that. I'll show you tomorrow, bring the stuff in.

That's a good one to but because it sinches down (slides) I am afraid that the braid will cut through the mono. Here is an Albright from that same site that Andy posted. All that being said, fishing with braid for about 4 years, I never got down to that knot for it to matter anyways.

Albright knot. We use this to attach braid to the backing and braid to the leader. Never failed us. I've had 50lb leader break an inch from the knot and the knot was still intact. I do put at least 13 wraps, with the braid, as this line is slick and will slip if only 4 or 5 wraps used.
We use this knot all the time...blackfish, fluke, bass/blues and trolling.
If I need any swivel, I put it in the leader about 18" ahead of the bait.
This knot will pass through your guides and levelwind without problem.

I made the switch a couple years ago......never thought I'd do it.....

For groundfishing, I'll never go back to mono!

Still, it has limited uses, and offshore trolling and sharking I will never use it. (I know, never say never, but I really don't think so.....)

I have great luck with double or triple surgeon's knots tying braid to mono & fluoro, as long as the mono/fluoro diameter isn't over a typical 50# diameter. Can tie it behind your back practically and never had one let loose, always break something somewhere else LOL.

The knot was actually rated very high on breaking strength in a recent comprehensive strength test in either Sport Fishing or SWS......

I wasn't surprised......

And to think I have been ridiculed over this knot on "other" sites......

i think that article was sws, but i agree it might have been sport fishing...i can't remember either. i loved the article because it was comprehensive and paid attention to variation among multiple samples of the same knots. i was totally sold after reading it and switched from a uni to uni to their suggestion of 12 turn Bimini twist to a 10 turn Yucatan leader. well i should say tried to switch. i tied at least 15 different connections and tested them all w/20 lbs of pull (50# line) and i couldn't get them to hold. they looked great but i couldn't figure out what i was doing wrong. my uni to uni holds 20lbs easy, and is a lot easier & faster to tie. oh well.

I agree with Bob on just the Albright without the Surgeons loop for the leader connection, Goes through the guides easily.
