You said Latex paint. Is that a water based paint? I was not aware of a waterbased paint made by Rustoleum. Do you think a model paint like Testors would work? It is an Emanel. I have many bottles in different colors left over from building various models.

Also, have you tried any of the Marbeling techniques I see on Rodbuilder? I believe they use Testors paint with the base poured off after it settles.

Hi Bryan,

Yes it is latex with soap and water clean up.

By all means the Testors should work.

I get RodMaker mag and look at/read all those articles. I appreciate all that these designers come up with. For my own building I keep it all pretty close to the vest. The blank selection and what I do with it, trimming etc, is what floats my boat.


Took a 9' St Croix spin blank and created an awesome cod fish rod for one of the young mates that worked with me. Very light weight, sensitive and a fun rod to catch cod with. To watch him catch 20+ lb cod lit my after burners.
