| You're welcome Jim! I'll get them finished up in the next few days, so there will be some time for you to put them to the test. Here's a couple pictures of the rods during the assembly: The ferrule is mounted with Marine-Tex and a fiberglass mesh, which is by far superior to any other installation method. Many manufacturers/builders will glue cork, or worse yet, cardboard tubing, to use as a spacer between the blank and the ferrule. Although the latter method works, it's a gamble, and not worth taking. To keep the Mint Green thread looking like, well, Mint Green, multiple coats of color preserver were applied prior to laying down a base coat of epoxy finish. A layer of Metallic Silver, then another of Black thread over the guide feet, help keep the guides in place. The rods are now ready for multiple coats of 2-part epoxy finish with the highest amount of UV inhibitors on the market, which well help keep the rods functioning and looking good for many, many years. | ||

| I always try to stick to a unific bond philosophy when it comes to color preserver...maybe I'm paranoid aboutnot "bonding" the thread to the guidefeet and ultimatley the underwrap to the blank...I try to use NCP thread where I can, but that stuff just doesn't have the same "pop" as nylon. somthing that I have tried recently is underwrapping the space between the guide feet, applying multiple coats of CP then coming back and finishing the guide foot underwraps, thus promoting a unific bond while maintaining the "pop" that nylon has before it is saturated with epoxy. actually the eighth inch or so where the CP'd underwrap meets the raw nylon is a subtle contrast at both edges of the overwrap.....I'm not saying that you did anything wrong, I'm pretty sure your build history/experience level quite frankly dwarfs my 12 or so rods...more like I am just wondering if anybody else thinks that CP might just be the devil in carnate when it comes to cracking around the guide feet? | ||
