| Shimmano Calcutta. Non level wind that my son uses is an Avet SX, he loves it. I have had my Calcutta for 5 years and its great for fluke. | ||

| Cost, cost, cost...something I struggle with too for the kids. Currently they have Shimano level winds (can't recall the model, will get later), and they are really nice for their $50-60 tag. Me, I use an Avet SX and couldn't be happier. Granted, more expensive, but worth every penny. | ||

| ALLOYTOY, HAVE YOU EVER CONSIDERED AN ABU 7500? PLUS IF YOUR SON DECIDES TO GO STRIPER FISHING. IT HAS THE LEVEL WIND, WITH LARGE LINE CAPACITY, THE GEAR RATIO IS 6 TO 1 OR SOMETHING VERY CLOSE TO IT. THE PRICE IS ABOUT 150.00 BUT I HAVE MANY THAT HAVE LASTED FOR 7-8 YEARS!! HENRY ![]() | ||

| Definately look at ABU, if you are gona use it for fluke, take a look at the 6500 or 6600c4. Also close in price and a damn fine reel is the shimano tekota 500 or 600. Gman mentioned the quantum cabo cnlw, and he is right, damn fine reel but a bit more expensive, as far as penn, I know i may take some heat for saying this but I just cant recommend them anymore. So many others for close to the same money and twice the quality. | ||

| Can't beat an Abu for price and quality. For a 7 ft outfit I'd go with a 6500. Go with a 5500 for a 6 or a 6.5.
