| My son fish's a 6' Ugly Stik.......he had a Okuma (JUNK!!!) level wind and lost a big Tog this fall because of reel failure. I will check all these recommendations out. A hundred and a half is tough to spend on a kids reel but if he has it for 10-15 years then what the heck...........

| If that's the stick he's using than an Abu 6500-C3 would be a perfect choice for him. It's just a little slower than the 6.1 but gives him better torque than the higher speed. They are very durable. I've been fishing them for years and never had any problems. Armand | ||

| I have used a pair Pflueger Contender 15 levelwind star drag reels for the last three seasons and I have been quite happy with them. The contender is basically a Penn 310/320 GTI clone. The one I have has four SS ball bearings and a 4.3:1 gear ratio. I use this reel for bass, blues, fluke & blacks. I have one loaded with 50lb braid and one loaded with 30lb braid, but mono will also work fine with the Contender. You can find one for around $60. Todd | ||

| Shimano TRN 100 or 200. Both relatively cheap. Both levelwind and both almost indestructable. My son (12) and I use these reels among others for our fluking. | ||

| The 200 is what I ended up buying. For $60.00 at Cabela's you can't beat it IMHO. Seems to be very well made. Thanks all for your help. His next reel will be one of the higher end reels.

| Nice Reel it is. I realized I never posted up the Shimano model that I said I would. I use 3 of the Shimano TRN200's for fluking, for the wife and kids. 2 seasons now, and they still look and operate like new. | ||

| Have 2 Penn GT1, a 320 and 330. My nephew has 3, 310, 320 and 330. We like them. You won't get them for $50 - $60, though. | ||
