| Hi, I am very curious to see if the gluing system works. Please post the results. I have found that replacing the guide was the best way to go. Many times when a rod is dropped or the guides banged against a hard surface the guide rings will get damaged or pop out. Capt Neil

| I've had pretty good luck with it, just for the reasons you say, you don't want the rod to look like it was repaired. I should say, that the most secure way of fixing it is to re-wrap, but if your handy, it's worth a try to glue it. Bob & Mag, does Jim have your rod? PM me if you like Bruce | ||

| This is some great info - I like the idea of "stealing" a guide from an older broken rod to use. I knew i was keeping a few of the broken rods for a reason. Whenever I can, i will also keep the tips from a broken rod as they are easily removed and can be reused - tips are pretty cheap, but it has come in handy while in the "field"

| You must put a new guide on. Gluing it on is asking for trouble when you have the fish you have waited your whole life for on. ...and THAT'S when it WILL happen!

This one hasn't been touched in a while, but I will put my two cents in.....not that it's worth much. I am not a custom rod builder. I do not repair rods for money. I do not work at a tackle shop. I am by no means an accomplished tackle guru. I am a guy who has built a couple of rods and I also happen to be rough on gear...and my son is pure hell on gear. I have a simple recomendation, learn to fix your own gear. The rewards are limitless, and for the hassle of learning to fix one guide you will be liberated...that's right, totally free of the want for your perfect plugging rod to be repaired by the guy you might pay a couple of bucks to fix the guide that is keeping you from enjoying one of your most prized posessions......and as an added bonus you can liberate your friends as well. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a day, teach him to repair his own tackle and he just might bring you a fish for dinner...whatever, I just wish you guys lived down the street, I'd help you get 'em in order. Mighty hard to put the process into words though. | ||
