Suggestions for Rod blank for striper fishing

Anyone have a suggestion on a rod blnk. I want to build a rod for striper fishing.
I will use it soley for 3/waying eels in water thats no deeper than 60 feet. I usually use bank sinkers in the 8-14oz range.

I have never fished E glass or fiberglass so that would be a good option

Thanks

Do you have a length and price range? There are a lot of nice graphite/glass blanks on the market that are nice too, but pricey.

VRC

I was thinking of a 7' in the 100-150 range.

Thanks

Did you check with the boys down at Rivers End in Old Saybrook? They are very knowledgable and helpful. I have worked with them on many rod building projects with my students.

Hey PG, sorry I didn't reply sooner. If you are still considering it, Lamiglas makes a great Tri-Flex CGBT 84 1MH. Some guys like the Calstar GFX800M with the tip cut down to a size 9 or 10.

Hi,

VRC-Rods chose my favorite blank. I love to fish that one. I think it has one of the most sensitive tips I have ever used and it fishes like a light weight rod. Mine has taken an 80# yellow fin tuna when used by a friend.

Most of my customers will choose the CGBT 84 1M blank instead. They like it better and it is a great blank that will handle 20+ oz of sinkers although it does not look it.

For an inexpensive blank give the Batson Forecast SWB70MH a try, E Glass Fiberglas. My customers like that one also. It will also double as a tog rod as well as the Tri Flex choices.
