Are We That Stupd? < Illegal Aliens >

It's time we wake up. Boy am I confused. Listening to the Partisan "politicals ", I have been hammered with the propaganda that it is the Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting us. I now find that to be RIDICULOUS.

Now .... I hope the following 14 reasons are read over and over again until they are read so many times that the reader gets sick of reading them. I have included the URL's for verification of all the following facts.

$11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year. FAIR: : Immigration and Welfare

$2.2 Billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens. Center for Immigration Studies

$2.5 Billion dollars a year is spent on Medicaid for illegal aliens.

$3 Million Dollars a DAY is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens.

The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that's two and a half times that of white non-illegal aliens. In particular, their children, are going to make a huge additional crime problem in the USA.
CNN.com - Transcripts

During the year of 2005 there were 4 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our Southern Border also, as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from Terrorist Countries. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth, heroine and marijuana, crossed into the USA from the Southern border. Homeland Security Report:

Brad,

Don't even get me started on this one, I do realize we need aliens (documented and legal type) to conduct the work they have historically done such as crops and the hospitality industry. But please let's not continue to give them the world because they come from a poor country. I remember when I applied for a $200.00 benefit for MA children attending college. At the same time one of our politicians wanted to provide free colldge tuition for the illegal aliens. The Kicker was that I was denied the $200.00 due the fact I was actually an AK resident living and serving the Coast Guard in the midst of my 29 year career. The logic was I was living here, paying taxes here but because I was technically an AK resident denied. OK, I cna live with that, I was only serving my country and paying property taxes here in MA. But do not go and tell me all of these illegal aliens deserve a break and deny someone who is stationed here.

I've been pondering our current situation a great deal lately. It appears we are going into a serious decline and I don't see any easy solutions on the horizon or any true leadership in this country.

Both the republicans and democrats have "blown it" and they only care about their immediate political futures.

Big problems- energy, illegal immigration, housing/banking crisis, it the terroists "kick in" things are going to get really bleak. All could have been addressed with leadership but we have not had a true leader in a long time.

I couldn't agree more Brad, but there is a trend starting to happen as the USD weakens in the international economy. I am beginning to see illegals go back to their respective countries due to the fact that the dollar is not holding up as well against foreign currencies, and illegals are finding it harder to make it here in the U.S.. There is no question as to whether or not immigration is a contributing factor in addition to the war and everything else going on, but sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't make sense to naturalize these people, make them pay taxes, and learn english as a PRIMARY language so that they can contribute to this country rather than robbing us of our resources. On the other hand, regarding terrorism, I find it pathetic that so many other countries want the US to topple, and yet whenever there is a problem around the world, we are the 1st to step up to the plate to help these other nations... they reject our country, yet they accept our asistance...

Imperialism?... what would these third world nations do if they got their wish and then needed our help and nobody was there to help them?

Since the Euro is holding up so well, I can only wonder if the demographic on illegals may actually change over the course of time...

One thing for sure, is that we need solid leadership to get us out of the international chaos that we are currently involved in, and I don't think that the fix will by any means be an easy one.

Unfortunately, I don't see our current political system as being anything viable for the future of our Nations security or well being. It makes me wish that we could disband the two political parties in favor of creating something closer to the original intent of our forefathers.

Boy, have we strayed from what their vision was for our Nation. Had we stuck with their plan from the beginning, we would be far greater a Nation than we are today.

Strange days indeed!...

Because we have cowards as so called leaders this is the State of our Union. It is my firm belief that in the next 20 years we will have a son or daughter of an illegal alien in the Whitehouse. OK who will be the first to have a Spanish fishing website in Ct.? Speak up no one no one?

Hi to all,

This is my first post. I've been lurking & enjoying the NBS forums for a while. You have a great site. I thought this thread could benefit from another point of view. I think this issue is more complex than many people realize... & I like the way many illegals use Coke cans for spinning reels!

The following quote is from Wikipedia.org a well respected web resource.

The Economic impact of illegal immigrants in the United States depends on whether taxes paid by illegal immigrants and their contributions to the economy make up for the government services which they use, as well as the economic input of the immigrants themselves and the cost of externalities such as added strain on public health that they may add. Those who find that immigrants, including illegal immigrants, produce a negative effect on the US economy often focus on the difference between taxes paid and government services received, while those who find positive economics effects focus on added productivity and lower costs to consumers for certain goods and services. Economists themselves overwhelmingly view immigration, including illegal immigration as a positive for the economy.

Taxation
Chapman College law professor Francine Lipman writes in a 2006 paper in the journal Tax Lawyer of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation that the belief that undocumented migrants are exploiting the U.S. economy and cost more in services than they contribute to the economy is "undeniably false". Lipman asserts that "undocumented immigrants actually contribute more to public coffers in taxes than they cost in social services" and "contribute to the U.S. economy through their investments and consumption of goods and services; filling of millions of essential worker positions resulting in subsidiary job creation, increased productivity and lower costs of goods and services; and unrequited contributions to Social Security, Medicare and unemployment insurance programs."
The Irs issues an Individual tax payer id number (ITIN) regardless of immigration status because both resident and nonresident aliens may have Federal tax return and payment responsibilities under The IRS Federal tax law prohibits the IRS from sharing data with other government agencies including the IN. In 2006 1.4 million people used ITIN when filing taxes, of which more than half were illegal aliens.

Ths is Al again... not Wikipedia... the full article give examples of both negative and positive economic impacts of illegal immigration. I chose the taxation section for its positive slant.

What do you think?

Al

Long time subscriber - first post. There are many many things that are impacting our country negatively - illegal immigration being only one. I don't want to trivialize it's impact, but it isn't alone as an ongoing financial drain. We are still America and hopefully haven't given up on our legendary "American Spirit". What we are sorely missing (as mentioned above) is true leadership. Not Democrat, not Republican - just leadership. All politicos are slaves to the media and as such can only get elected if they can endear themselves to the public through this venue. There is no other way. So what we end up with as leadership choices are people who know how to "appear" on TV. They don't need credentials, experience, common sense, sense of duty, etc. They just need media consultants who can direct them (just like and actor) to appear "presidential" before the camera. I believe that the special interests have long recognized this and that is why we get who we get. I had hoped that the Internet could be the equalizer but it too has fallen into only partisan clutter and shouting. Until we get someone who is willing to lead, to tackle our problems with the best interests of Americans, to talk straight to the people without avoiding the unpleasantness of the situation, and to clearly state and articulate the options for resolution we will be perpetually facing the same unresolved issues. I'm probably just dreaming, but I can still hope that there is someone like that here in America and that they are will to take on the job and make us great again.
