I will respectfully disagree, sorry but your way off on that, you do not have to be an enviromentalist whako to believe that the climate is changing

How about this ...you go tell Anthony he needs to stop fishing, that should be a good conversation ha ha ha LMAO

C'mon now. Really, I respect you alot Bill but this is somewhat off base IMHO, Just because I say that the climate is changing and we should all care doesn't mean I shouldnt board a boat because it burns fuel. I guess I should fly a plane or drive a car for that matter.

You dont have to be a whako to believe there is something going on. We do our part.

Help! I tried to watch Capt Bill's video and it stopped about 1/3 of the way into it. Do I have to screw around with my computer and download some plug ins or has this happened to anyone else? If you saw the entire clip, let me know which software you are using to watch it.

Global Warming

Just a few fast comments. My career is "environmental management" - I work for a large multi-national corporation. The corporate business community has embraced global warming - all the major corporations report "Greenhouse Gas Emissions" as part of social responsibility and basically all the major corporations are trying to reduce the amount of "greenhouse gases" they emit.

The hole in the "ozone layer" that was caused by the use of "ozone depleting substances" - called ODS (freon from AC systems is a good example of an ODS) is a different subject. While these substances can have some "global warming potential" that is not the reason these substances have been banned.

If man made global warming is real, we are in big trouble with China and India joining "Western Culture".

Greenhouse gasses, CO2, Ozone degrading emissions, etc... are all important things to control, however, not responsible for the Global Warming panic. The earth cycles, and has even so in the last 1,000 years, a few times, with mini-Ice Ages, and temperate regionally growth (can you say the dust bowl years in the depression era?). There are many factors involved, but the psychosis around this is to the point of political insanity.

Scup,

I watched it in my Firefox browser without issue. Just let it download all the way (the grey progess bar) and then start the vid, it is much smoother and doesn't break out on ya.

The FLV format is best viewed with the RealPlayer plugin installed to your machine (just install the whole free Real Player program and you'll get all the plug-ins too).

Thanks Possum but it still did not work. Installed Real Player 11 gold and it still stopped. Noted that even though I made Real Player default, somehow Yahoo Player kept on taking control which is likely my problem. However, in looking for a different downloading site I went to:

which more than solved my problem. The site presents critical clips from the film, along with an University of Edinburgh lecturer's (Chris Merchant) comments and notes. While probably of not much interest to a fishing form, being an engineer, I could not turn my eyes away from it. Chris very strongly reinforces your words. Thank God I saw some daffodils popping up today. Taxes, and trying to figure out who is right in the Global Warming issue has given me a headache. Spring is coming and the commercial tog regs perked me up. Probably far too generous for me, when everyone else is down to four fish at best but that is something I have no control over.

CaptBill: That video you linked is fantastic. Everyone, especially our school children, should be forced to watch it, much like they do with the Al Gore movie. (don't get me started on the crap they force feed my kids in the Madison Public schools)

I can only watch about half of that video before it freezes up. Anyone else have that problem?

Stop all the cows in this country from FARTING, before talking to me about being "GREEN". They do more damage alone than any of us can.

And I don't drive a Yaris to be "GREEN", btw, I do it to simply save money on gas LOL. If gas were cheaper, I'd still be driving my Burb every day (that is currently sitting in my driveway collecting dust LOL).

For the record, I do believe we are warming...."no shit sherlock"......I don't need a scientist to tell me that.

But I think it is natural processes at work more than "controllable" human sources.

Hey Eric,

Being green isn't just for hippies and tree huggers its about finding better energy efficient ways to reduce cost while being more concerned about the enviroment.

hey guys, nothin' wrong with old hippies trying to save a little, but if you spend 20 G's on a disposable car to save 5 thousnd in fuel......who wins??? toyota & gore????

i'm all for being "greener" but within my budget. i re-cycle & live simply...... but i hope those selling carbon credits go broke, die & burn in hell for trying to dupe the masses for their own gain.....imho
