I swear all of you are so hung up on Al Gore your missing the point. Thank god someone had the foresight back then to use technology so we actually use cars and cell phones and modern medicine.

Its about finding new technology that benefits everyone. I swear you guys surprised me on this one

personally, i think i do get the point, just that i'm a dinosaur who takes objection to elitists. i may be a little slow following the POPULAR TRENDS. my lifestyle is environmently friendly (but low-tech) as far as i can control, i always pick up the litter of others, re-use, re-cycle,clean the beaches, organ doner, lower thermostat, fewer lights, etc., etc. all within my normal living budget.

i also believe in tangible things that i can see, hold, or concieve.

pleeeeze explain carbon footprints, carbon credits & how paying money can off-set or justify ones greater consumption of energy than another.
and to whom do we send this cash? am i to be compensated for being a good energy conservative?

i also don't believe there will be a global market for such ideas they are designed only for the fleecing of america by americans.

C'mon guys, somebody find a link that works with Bill Brown's video? I can watch about 40% of it, then it freezes. I want to sent it to a few thickheaded friends of mine.

Politicians will do what ever they have to do gain the trust of Americans......they are still carting their asses around in limos which get 8 mpg, flying in private jets world wide, still have multiple estates nation/world wide which all require heat & electricity.........

Hillary landed at a small military airport behind my shop weeks ago while making her campaign rounds. You wouldn't believe the motorcade she had....5 limos, police, a big jet she flew in on WTF!!!! Are they really that concerned with Global Warming? or more concerned about themselves........

More people on the earth, more material goods per person (cars, houses, boats, campers,........which all retain heat) equals more heat in my eyes......... could it be that simple???

From an energy viewpoint, not to mention health hazards, recycling is for the most part a myth. Most recycled items use up more energy in the recycling process than to be created in the first place. Sanity is not going to happen here either because there are too many making profit from the recycling process. However, there are some successes the most noted being lead, aluminum, and noble metals reclaimed from discarded electronic products. Our local West Marine stores in CT are required by law to charge a small deposit for every marine battery sold in which the buyer does not return an old battery. We do not profit from this deposit as its collection is handled separately from sales; we have to account for the number of batteries sold versus the number returned. The town of Stonington recycling center has an used lead battery drop off section for those wishing to get rid of old batteries. I think most folks are trying to do their part when it comes to recycling. We no longer see lead acid batteries lying along the roadside like we had in the past.

Concerning Gman's thread remark about Al Gore: Gman is right on the money here. While I am still on the fence leaning toward the side we are not causing it, one should never judge if an argument is valid by examining its presenter, but only by examining the merits of the argument itself. Looking at the previous threads by this form concerning Al Gore, there was not one thread that stated a positive opinion about Al Gore. Most believe he is a con man, liar, or worse. However, even a liar may sometimes tell the truth!

Exactly! And what you say above is why I bought a pure gasoline Yaris for 15 (LOADED 4-dr, out the door) vs. a Prius Hybrid for 22 LOL. 7-8K more for a Hybrid, and they only get realistically NO MORE THAN 10 MPG better than my gasser. Don't believe the numbers they tell you, I know several people at work with Prius's that are jealous of my cheaper gasser's mileage

I only ended up with it because I wanted a cheap dependable commuter.......the MPG (average of 40!) just came along with it LOL.

THAT, my friends, is being GREEN, and I'm not even trying lol....those trying are polluting more than I am! What are the GREENIES gonna do with all those batteries when the bank needs replacing in 5-6 years? HUH???

Oh, and how do you get heat out of a Hybrid in winter? Hmmmmmm.....ummmmmmm I guess the engine must have to run huh?

How many people ONLY drive around town or in the city? Because that is the ONLY way you'll get even remotely close to the nigh mileage "ratings" they quote. If you drive highway, you'll get horrible mileage in a Hybrid considering what you paid or are expecting to get.

This is just one rant I have on the dopes jumping on the GREEN bandwagon these days. The MAJORITY of them don't know what the frig they are talking about before jumping on the bandwagon.....they are just a bunch of LEMMINGS following what's "in vogue".

They need to think for themselves and use a little common sense.

One more thing.........how about these PURELY ELECTRIC cars everyone is coming out with?

Hmmmmmm....you have to plug them in, don't you? You know how most of your power companies produce power? COAL!

John,

It hangs up on me too. Possum made some suggestions in a previous thread, but they did not work for me. There is supposed to be DVD of it being released this summer which will have even more footage added to it. We might have to wait till then. I am half way through doing my taxes and do not want to screw around with my computer trying to make it work and risk crashing the hard drive.

I like you alot but be careful who your calling a dope and lemmings my friend. Some people like myself, don't like being put down and wont stand for it. My family and I don't appreciate being slung into your little titles, we are conciously looking into products that be more energy efficient and that are greener ... all of that my with my own common sense.

Which by the way I happen to have alot of I actually speak at events regarding green building products. Not cars though which you obviously are well versed in

This started as a thread about global warming and progressed into the discussion of just the warming of the earth. As I said earlier my son just did a project about this so I though it was a good idea for him to see how people view the topic. Unfortunately the responses seem to have less to do with the topic and more to do with everyones personal agendas towards politicians and companies. Bill is telling us we shouldn't go on boats and are whacko's, now your stating anyone concerned with the enviroment and greener products are dopes. Great bunch of people here

Seriously if you people cant have a discussion without bashing people because they have a different opinion than you, Then so be it, but myself, my son will get our dumb, non common sense, dope, lemming asses out of this so called No Bullshit Site that lately does nothing more than bash people for whatever reason
