It's global cooling, not warming.

"Josh Willis at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory says the oceans are what really matter when it comes to global warming. In fact, 80 percent to 90 percent of global warming involves heating up ocean waters. They hold much more heat than the atmosphere can...."

All said, I believe that you cannot pump all the crap into the air like we do without some kind of payback. With our record consumption of oil and other fossil fuels it must affect our good old rock in some kind of negative ways. However I believe that the problems we are facing now will be our doom way before the sky falls in. I believe the big boss in the sky must be some kind of pissed off now. But calm down boys and girls soon the fish will come or whats left of them.

I guess that is why when I took Geology and Palentology we found fish fossiles in the Rockies and rainforest flora fossils in Northern North Dakota. Ummm we must have started something way back ...wait a minute, that was BEFORE man. ops... Well I guess we might have had something to do with the 8+ magnetic pole flip flops since we measure that by early man's fire pits. It must be man's ultimate form arragance to pretend we have that much influence over the planet. We do have an effect but "Global Warming" give me break!!!! I beleive if it is that serious and we are doing it then maybe a little Nuclear Winter would compensate?

At five bucks a pop for a gallon of fuel, and still climbing, it would appear that we are going to have a drastic cut back in the use of fossil fuels whether or not we believe we are causing global warming. While not exactly directly related to global warming I just had to put in two clips I found in an old Mother Earth News magazine. I was getting ready to toss these old copies out but decided to save them. I do not think Mother will get upset with me for putting these two clips on the web as one is an advertisement and the other has been cropped to only reveal what they were about 28 years ago. Yep, these clips came from a 1980 publication. The first is a advertisement for obtaining the plans for a still to make 8 gallons of alcohol fuel an hour for 50 cents per gallon. Note Mother's comment "and gasoline is selling at outrageously inflated prices" and they made this statement 28 years ago. I wonder what they would say about it today. I would doubt that you could still get the plans for $15, but just maybe they might still be available. The second clip is cropped only to show that Mother had made a hybrid car (75 MPG) prior to 1980. I always thought Mother Earth News was a great magazine, I just did not realized in 1980 they were three decades ahead of their time.

All I can say is that there's finally a Northwest passage open and everyone is scrambling to get the oil up there now to throw more polution in the air. I hope our kids futures are not in jeopardy just because of our party loyalties. I hear all this Gore bashing and it doesn't even have anything to do with the scientific community. It's because of his affiliation. Some day people will realize what a waste of time all this partisan crap was. It's wasteful and no-where bullcrap.

DRILL HERE....DRILL NOW.

BUILD MORE NUCLEAR PLANTS!

REFINERIES ON RETIRED MILITARY BASES SO THE NIMBYS HAVE NO SAY.

with current technology all can be done in an acceptably safe manor.

if you oppose new oil exploration, don't be a hypocrite.......set an example and stop using the energy you oppose!

seems that simple solutions are overlooked. with the reserves in our own back-yard we could exist while developing any alternative necessary.
(unless the freaks keep opposing progress!)

I'm with ya there, man! That's EXACTLY what we need to do!

And yet those ******* General Assembly pricks shot down Bush's proposal to lift the restrictions on offshore drilling by the US.....

HMMMMMM......let's see WHO is drilling off our coast NOW that we have no control over in International waters???? CHINA!!!!!

If we don't do it, they will! Get it, MORONS?????

Alaska should be opened as well and nuclear should be brought back, as you mentioned.

If they built the Alaska pipeline thru pristine land well before today's technology, we can also drill today.

Jackasses.

just getting damn sick & tired of all the BULL being spouted by those who seem hell-bent on keeping us down and dependent.

where is the AMERICAN SPIRIT??

kick the liberal nay-sayers in the nuts & GIT-R-DONE!!

or wait & see if China will sell us some of the fossil fuel harvested near our own continental shelf.

damn, there is even opposition to wind mills.......i don't get it.

just let my neighbors try & object to my upcoming solar panels.....
lead will be flying

going fishing for the next two days on mother ocean, cigars & adult libations in the evening should re-charge my tolerance of the opposition!

cheers! cap'n mick

I hear ya on the windmills.....I recently went to an engineering dinner and the speaker was the head of the committee here in RI that is working on the current proposals and permitting requested from several companies to put some windfarms off Block, etc.

I told him I'm all for 'em! I'll fish the damned things!

Funny thing is, the residents of Block Island are ALL FOR THEM, even off their own coast! Know why???? Take a look at their current electric rates LOL.......when they found out how drastically they could be cut, they are all for them.

Funny how much support you can get when you affect people's pockets for the positive!
