| Politics Only It's that time, election 2008. I know you've got something to say about the gaggle of goons running, so let's hear it. |
What have you got to say about the topic of: "A NOTE FROM THE BOSS TODAY". Here's how is started: "As the CFO of this business that employs 140 people, I have resigned myself to "

As the CFO of this business that employs 140 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Obama is our next President, and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way. To compensate for these increases, I figure that the clients will have to see an increase in our fees of about 8% but since we cannot increase our fees right now due to the dismal state of our economy, we will have to lay off eight of our employees instead. This has really been eating at me for a while, as we believe we are family here and I didn't know how to choose who will have to go. So, this is what I did. I strolled through our parking lot and found 8 Obama bumper stickers on our employees' cars and have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off. I can't think of a more fair way to approach this problem. These folks wanted change; I gave it to them. If you have a better idea, let me know. Sincerely, The Boss

| If there is anybody out there that does not think change is needed in our government you need to pull your head out of your a%#. Already we have folks laying the blame at the President elect and he has not even been sworn in, only sworn at. No lets keep things as they are, just peachy. Who knows what kind of job Obama will do but he has been elected and I plan on giving him a chance. Eight years of the current moron has just about did us in.Some hidden racism in these posts, just what we need now. | ||

| I don't see anything with that tone. A bit off color maybe, but from from discriminatory (which won't be tolerated). Change is needed, yes. Barack Obama is our President Elect, and so be it. Can't change that today. It won't be fast nor pain free, and regardless of whom was going into office, that can't be changed at this point. There are so many parties to blame for today's state of the union. Both political parties, the greedy corporate slobs, the corrupt investment banking system, and even the end consumer (for taking out billions in mortgages they couldn't afford upon amortization). As for layoffs, they will continue well into 2009 if not further. Yeah, ol' G-Dub (who I voted for twice ) has indeed made a mess, however, it is again not all his doing. Granted, ALOT is. At this point, it doesn't really matter what species of talking chimpanzee is the lame duck right now, the reality is that we have a complete economic disaster on our hands, a shrinking GDP, and unreal unemployment numbers (and they haven't even come close to where they'll peak). We will make it through this, and it will be a long, often challenging, road for many of us. All we can really drive for now is that our elected officials listen to the populus, act on the needs of the USA and its' citizens, and at least attempt to punish both those who started and propagated the mess we are in. | ||

Tut tut Possum, are we not getting too close to the hairy edge. I am laughing like hell as I write this. I have to paraphrase what Melville stated: sometimes it appears like that whole world is playing one big joke on us (referenced to the horrible everyday disasters aboard a nineteen century whaler) and all we can really do is laugh at it. Everything you stated about where we are right now seems true enough to me. Change is needed but it can come around to bite you in your ass. While nobody thinks things cannot get worse, has anybody thought about the possibility that change could push us even further along the road to disaster. Obama was heavily supported by the gay community and now it appears they want more than their due. Are the portals to this country going to be swung wide open. Socialized health care is now looming over our heads, and what about Obama wanting a private civilian militia to assist our current military if needed. We still have the right to bear arms, but for how long? I could be way off the mark, but there are many who now feel that this right is now in jeopardy and as a result the sales of firearms have sky rocketed since he won the election. I really did not think much of either of the two candidates as having proper credentials for leadership but what else can we now do but wait and see what happens. Hopefully, Obama will distinguish himself as the messiah he has been played up to be. However, when it comes to politicians, I have been disappointed just too many times in the past to get excited over potential positive changes promised and usually end up with changes pushing us in the wrong direction. As another member stated, this is going to be long Winter. I really hope somebody writes something about ice fishing as I got to get out and try something new.

First of all, I will stand by President elect O'Bama and give him a chance. This was coppied from another site and I certainly hoe when you stated their were racist tones in this post you were not calling me racist. I treat everyone with respect and dignity, no matter what their color or religion is, that is the way I was brought up. I still stand by my current President unlike many even though he has made some big mistakes. As a prior military officer, you learn to respect and stand by your commander in chief. I was making the point of how the boss took the easy way out of deciding who would leave his company, that is all. I am sure this isn't even true and I only wish the best for this country I love and the people that have worked hard their whole lives to have the American Dream. If I offended you, I am sorry Stormy and have a good day.

| In all honesty he won he deserves a chance......... The fact that he will bring change to the US with a VP that has been in the senate since 1972, and a potential cabinet consisting of those that served under Bill Clinton or GW.....makes me question the "change" thing. I can however already predict the future.....tax small business (big corps are already in trouble) and military cuts...........we'll have to wait and see

| Well Dave it looks like we have people thinking anyway, No accusations being thrown out here on your part, just the typical " Yobama" stereotype type of comments lead us down a slippery slope.Hey I"ve been called a redneck myself. I just want to see some support for the new elect. Will we pay more taxes? You betcha, where else will the money for these bailouts come from? Capital gains taxes are gone for a while. But back to your original post Dave, I fugured if you posted it with no comments you support its statement and to me its not right to single folks out for the unemployment line based on who they supported for President sounds a little like China to me. Good luck to all | ||

| There isn't much to do at this time but the resolution to the lay-off choice was interesting. There will alaways be football and fishing. If they go, we'll always have eachother!!!
