Should we be concerned

THE RISING SEA DRAGON IN ASIA - 2007 UPDATE

I don't think these ships are built for fishing.

They are the only other viable "super power" in the world, and they will show their muscle, as they have alot of it. Manpower, financial resources, organization, etc...

Fortunately, I like Chinese food...

LOL ... Unfortunately, the Chinese are light years ahead of the old USSR. Those are all cutting edge naval vessels, just look at the displacement design, and the stealth features. Most of the ships have serious plating running high up the port, starboard, and bow face of each. I would be willing to guess that the plates are coated for radar signature reduction.

I can only imagine it's a matter of time until we get into a cold war scenario with China, playing the fly by and international water testing games...

I think China wants what we have. Raw materials, real estate, and easy pickings. They are shrewd and are biding their time as they get stronger and we get weaker. Their freighters pull into our ports loaded with retail junk, and leave with steel. I wonder where the steel came from that went into the construction of those ships. Does anyone remember that prior to WWW II, we shipped steel to Japan. We got it back but not in the same form as when it was shipped. The first return delivery was made to Pearl Harbor. It will take a while, but the way we are going, I do not see us surviving another century. Perhaps if we had some decent leadership we could recover, but I do not see even one presidential candidate that can take us to where we have to go.
