Social Security My mom was a homemaker and dad worked all his life and paid into SS, dad has passed away and now my mom can barely make ends meet. While the possible "illegal" alien in front of her at the grocery store buys the name brands, my mom goes for the generic brands, and day old breads. She doesn't have out of state calling on her phone, because she can't afford it and shops at the thrift shops and dollar stores while the "illegal" aliens go to Macy's, Gap, J.C. Penny, Banana Republic, etc. She considers having a pizza delivered once a week "eating out". She grew up during the depression, watched her husband go overseas to fight in WW II a year after their marriage, and then they went on to raise, feed and clothe 5 children, scrounging to pay tuition for parochial schools. I'm sorry, but I can't see how the Senate can justify this slap in the face to born and bred! , or naturalized citizens. ![]() It is already impossible to live on Social Security alone. If they give benefits to "illegal" aliens who have never contributed, where does that leave us that have paid into Social Security all our working lives? The Senate voted this week to allow "illegal" aliens access to Social Security benefits. Attached is an opportunity to sign a petition that requires citizenship for eligibility to receive social services. If you do not wish to sign the petition yourself, please forward on to anyone you think might be interested. PETITION FOR: President Bush Mr. President: The petition below is a protest against the recent vote of the senate which was to allow illegal aliens access to our social security! We demand that you and all congressional representatives require citizenship for anyone to be eligible for social services in the United States.

| Roy, Where's the link to the petition? SS for illegals is WRONG. It's one thing for naturalized citizens whom have contributed to the failed system, however, to give benefits to thos who are here illegally, and have paid nothing into the system it ludicrous. This system is broken, and will remain so. The lawmakers participate in SS, however their private retirement program in the federal sector is really superior to most that any company in the private sector offers. I have long said, the only way to reform the SS system is to force the lawmaking assemblies (and the like) into the same bucket that most of us are in. The federal retirement program for these folks is leaps and bounds ahead of most out there (and while the emails still churn around, they do input to SS just like we do, however, their overall benefit package is quite good by today's standards). We all know that SS won't allow even remedial "living". Our pension plans are being eroded and altered every few years. Hell, keeping a job long enough to earn a reasonable pension, in the white collar I.T. sector, is a daily battle. The medical benefits are being cut back so much that there is no feasible way that you can eat and also have sufficient medical insurance, at least when I could possibly retire (20 years from now). Yeah, we should all save in our 401(k) programs, true. Still, for those of us whom are single income families, this won't really fund much, as the monies are needed today to "live". My kids will HAVE to go to state schools with student loans. No choice. I will have to work my whole life, no choice. When I met with my financial planner a few years ago, he stated that with my income, I needed to put away 40% for education and retirement. The problem is, I use 90% of my income for living expenses, and I make a good living, live in a small house, with a reasonable mortgage. Do the math, it don't work. I refuse to suffer my whole younger life, so that I can live well in my latter years (when I really can't enjoy things as I do today, with my wife and kids). Oh, can you tell this is a sore spot with me? South America is looking better and better as a retirement destination (somewhere like Belize, today anyway). | ||

Our politicians, who we voted for (mabey) push the issues which they know will, 1. go through smoothly without resentment from their peers. 2. go through smoothly without resentment from the majority of the voters in there district. It's the same thing every election. You know the saying,... Same chit different day. ![]() We hear the same BS stories during an election, the stuff that voters want to hear. However, once elected we see the same crap all throughout their term, till the next election. There are two issues here, not one. The first being illegal immigration. The second being Social Security reform. Two seperate issues. I don't know if they can't figure it out or they don't want to. We have heard proposals to reform SS and nobody can agree on them. WTF? Come on people balancing a budget is not rocket science. Here's a thought.....Mabey if we took care of ourselves before other countries, we wouldn't be in this predicament. Now we are confronted with an illegal immigration issue. Well, wake up people, this didn't just happen overnight. We have always had this problem. The problem now is the amount of them crossing the boarders. I think it's insane that we have to vote whether to put up walls and fences on our boarders. I think it's insane that we need to call the National Guard to police our boarders. We are taking unqualified people to guard our boarders instead of properly training new agents that belong in that field. Budget! Yup....theres that word again. So now we take these two PROBLEMS that we have and combine them. Well that's just Great! It's a snowball effect. It's only going to get worse if this country doesn't wake up and realize that our own people are in trouble too! ![]() This is me at the voting booth | ||

| The worst part of all this is how well we could all live in retirement if we could simply privately invest the funds the government takes into the "trust" fund. I don't know about any of you but I am not counting on a penny from social security thirty years from now. By then, the system will simply not exist in its current form. By then, the "trust" fund will simply be for the poorest among us and will simply be another welfare program. There is no derailing the federal train that has become bigger and more oppressive every single year since the constitution was amended and our "leaders" in Washington were given the power to tax based on income. And we are never getting rid of the illegal aliens.....Ted (the killer), Hillary (the land scammer) and Bill (the lawyer who commits perjury) and Joe (Biden) (the plagerist) will get too many votes from them to ever stop fighting to keep them here. | ||

| I'm a concrete contractor in S.W. Fl. and this is a real sore spot with me. This time last year I had 25 legal American citizens under employment. Today I have 3 including myself due to the construction bust. The few projects That I do bid on I lose to the businesses employing these illegals. They pay very low cash wages and don't have comp or liability insurance or if they do its not legit. It really burns my ars when I drive around and see these people on the job sites Knowing they aren't legal. I've called department of work comp and made reports but by the time they act its to late, the jobs finished and they're gone! Really wish we could get them out of here ![]() ![]() | ||
