Latest fish report

Dec 06, 2006Cabo is absolutely gorgeous right now, the weather and the seas have been great. More importantly anglers, the fishing has been great. Typical, to the time of year lots of Dorado and Marlin wiith a few Tuna and even some Wahoo. EL NUEVO made quite the trip this past week as John and Ryan Donovan set course for the Finger Banks. They had heard stories about the fishing at the Finger Banks and wanted to take their shot. Cesar from Rum Runnin heard the news and asked if he could go, as he had never been either. So at 4:30am Capt. Pablo, Cesar, John and Ryan headed north to the fishing grounds. The Finger Banks are close to 60 miles northwest of Cabo so they didn't start fishing until almost 8am. Lures were sent out on the outriggers and two short corners and a rigged Mackeral was used on the center line. Within minutes, literally, the first Dorado hit. As soon as Cesar rigged another Mackeral and sent it back out a Marlin was hooked, caught and released. The action was almost non-stop from 8am to 1pm. In all 10 keeper size Dorado were caught, with almost as many smaller sized Dorado released. Two Marlin were released and on the way back in the guys stopped at Los Arcos, not to be mistaken with The Arch, to grab a Red Snapper for dinner. On the way while the guys were enjoying a celebretory beer, Capt Pablo let it be known that that was a slow day for the Finger Banks. Needless to say that got a chuckle from the anglers, only he wasn't joking. Stay tuned to the website as we are going to be adding a Finger Banks option to our normal charters. On the 30th we had the Weakland/Gaudiano guys on ReelRum for a shared charter and they had a great day. 2 Dorado, 2 Tuna and 2 released Marlin. As always thanks for releasing your Marlin fellas. Our friend Tom Plummer also fished the 30th with his friend Monty, he ordered Tuna and Dorado from Capt. Omar and was lucky enough to get two of each. On the 4th the Hearing party spent their first of three days on the water catching 4 Dorado. Not a bad start guys. David Mahalik spent the 5th aboard El Nuevo Redrum and was lucky enough to release 2 Marlin. Buena Suerte....... jim

You have to love action like that. As it gets cold here in PA, I find I dream of Cabo all day long. Lots of good ocean fishing for stripers, but it's COLD.
