Boat launch info online

Please be advised that the Boating Division has a new boat launch WEB page up and running on the DEP website. The site provides quick and easy ways to find a launch. One can search by county or type (coastal, inland, car/top). It also provides directions, a diagram of the launch, and photos to assist boaters in planning their trip. Special thanks goes to Naomi Davidson, Tom Nosal, Bruce Hunter, and Monique Powe for making this project a reality.
To view the new page,
http://www.ct.gov/dep/boating , select "Where to Go Boating" on the left side, and then select "Locate a Boat Launch".
We hope you find this site helpful. Comments are welcome and please forward this e-mail to your staff and anyone you feel may be interested.

Sincerely,
Mike Payton, Supervisor
Navigation Safety/Boating Access Unit

Encon,

Is there any way we can get something done about the Branford boat launch? You can only launch there 3 hours before/after high tide because of the big holes at the bottom of the ramp. That takes the ramp out of play for 1/2 of the day. A few loads of big gravel and an excavator at low tide can have the job done in an hour. I have written letters to our empty suits (I meant state reps) and that gets us no where.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Try contacting our Boating Division in Old Lyme 860-434-0316.
Ask for Mike Payton. If there any plans for updating the ramp he will know about it. If not, he's a good one to give your info to as he is responsible for ramp construction.

Probably created from powering onto the trailers? I used to power on but not like some guys do......I used enough to guide myself on my float-on. Some guys rocket-up their trailers like they're trying to end up in the bed of their pickups LOL. If only they would learn to sink their trailer more

The Branford Ramp is a joke - and a lawsuit waiting to happen. I motored by it Sunday. Looks like someone replaced a few p/t boards. Still looks like patchwork to me. Between the potholes and the loose boards on the pier I'm surprised no one been seriously hurt there.

Guilford needs a pier too.
