Believe it or not I haven't seen a buck all year!!! The area that I have been hunting has alot of deer traveling through it but they were all does. There are two scapes that I pass when I walk to my spot, and when I pass them I dump alittle doe pee on them. Surprisingly the scaps have been " freshend up " every time.
Last Mon. about 3:30pm, I spot a deer at 1 of the scapes, scratching and peeing in the scrape about 50yrds. away, with it's head down. This was a big deer so I figured it was the buck. When I got to the deer after the shot I said shiiit it's a doe. Thank god I had a doe permit. She dressed out at 116lbs.


I will tell you something though, there is aaalllllllot of Moose sign around my stand( rubs, teeth marks on trees) but not alot of deer being seen. That is why I am hunting on the other side of the mountain. (Less moose sign) Also the doe I shot was "in heat" she stunk. I couldn't get the smell from her tarsel glands of me for a couple of days. So that tells me the secondary rut is happening.
