Scallop Diving Mass.

Scallop Diving Salem Mass.
Back in my SCUBA diving days about 10 years ago.I took my 18' starcraft down to Winter harbor Salam Mass.
It was a nice day late September the water was warm, it was time to get wet.
We took the boat to the South side of an island called Satans Rock. Scallop diving alot of times is a hit and miss game, you have to get lucky if you don't know the area, we didn't. We had a plan, on the first dive we all went separate ways in the search. At 70'- 80' down the time is short about 30 minutes. I followed a trap line down, the visibility was about 15', New England waters suck for vis. I got to bottom took a heading, went about 50' and found the mother load. I loaded up my dive bag in 20 minutes.
I got to the boat before the other guys did and filled the cooler. My buddys came up with nothing in their bags and didn't believe me when I told them what I got until they got to the boat. The 3 of us had 2 more tanks each. Needless to say they followed me down and we cleaned house.

I would love to get back in to diving, I still have all my gear.
I may have a problem fitting in my suit but I can rent one.
PM me if you are a diver and looking for a buddy.
Mass or Mystic area would be nice.

Great pics Roy! Reminds me of our scalloping days in the 80's......not diving but with weighters and bare hands lol.....right in Salt Pond, Pt. Jude.

Bushels of them each trip. We'd have so many gallon bags of shucked scallops in the freezer, that we HAD to eat a gallon at LEAST once a week just to clear the freezer out for spring!

I'll give ya the deep-frying on the scallops for sure........although I love pan-searing, baking, etc with these nice big scallop "steaks", deep-frying them is like CANDY!
