due to my surgery i only got out once this season. i did get busted by a buck when i raised my rifle only to have my shoulder dislocate again. he didn't like my painful crys as i slammed my shoulder into my tree to relocate it. however, the areas i got to hunt & reports from my partners indicated a less than stellar deer season. i even talked to the warden in my area & he estimated the kill as being off nearly 50%. any thoughts on this abnormality?? i just wrote it off to the incredibly warm weather. wonder if anyone can offer an explaination............. | ||

| From what I can see there was way to much food and water .Only my thoughts .From Aug.till now there are acorns plenty of water .The deer from trail cams we have are moving primarily at night. We cut firewood on water company and the deer there were out all times of the day.Where we hunt and there are more people traveling the woods they moved at night .My only guess is they did'nt have to go far for food and water | ||

| Yup, too much food and water readily available and the critters are moving at night. The rubs are there, the sign is there, they just don't show during the day. The weather is the culprit, no doubt. You needed to be setup, prior to first light (waiting for light of course) on a known active trail. My brother got nothing this year, and spent near 200 hours in the woods between all the seasons, including a 12 day venture in Maine. | ||

| Connecticuts deer herd is on a decline its not what it was 5 years ago people think there is a deer hiding behind every tree this is not the case. We have not had a acorn crop like the one we had this year in 7 years the deer dont need to travel to look for food they eat at one tree lay down chew their cud get up and eat more. A mature deer eats on the average of 12 to 14 pounds of food a day.. My .02

| I see shitloads of deer around my property......but although I don't personally hunt, friends of mine do..... What they have been doing is feeding them apples this year to draw them in (not around my property, somewhere else lol). They've been smashing a bunch to give scent off, then leaving a bunch of whole ones around. They've been able to score some this way
