| A friend has a 32 Carver at Pilots Point. He winterized the motors Three years ago and has not fired them up since. A floating cottage it is. PG |

| Fuel Prices/Boating Interesting discussion, my overall concern with this topic is when will business issues push marinas "out of business" (property value is better for condo develop versus marina?). It seems that boating business is "off" but marinas for the most part have 100% occupancy, which I guess is a good thing. Nothing wrong with a floating cottage is that is what you want. I like "little fish boats" but much prefer a slip to a trailer. Overall, the fishing crowd seems to be boating/fishing as much as ever and some fisheries appear to be growing in participation (tog). | Jack, CIM, I believe is the fourth largest taxpayer in Clinton so their welfare is a real concern to us smaller taxpayers. Gas is slow but as you mentioned, slips seem to be filled. We've noticed more transient traffic this year over last so that has to help. Last year there were few transient on outer "f" dock. The only holes in the marina for this and last season are our dock "e" and one side of "d" which are the lowest price slips for boats to 22'. They may have priced them above what the market will bear for the smaller boats. I just love grabbing a rod and running the mile to the dock, even if I only have an hour to kill. It makes it worth it to us. They got a delivery yesterday so will check and see if gas price went up/down and post it here.

| Marinas & Fuel My boat is broken down so I'm being gabby (Hopefully Atlantic will get to it this week). Anyway - I belong to BoatUS and they send a little magazine that gives you a feel for what is happening around the country. It seems that the coastal "boom town" areas are having serious problems with Marinas being converted to condos, and I don't mean dockominiums. As property values have gotten out of control it was my worry, if you drive the shoreline in Branford you see all the little beachfront cottages up for sale -my assumption is property tax is the issue. The market correction we seem to have going on my help the situation. I'm up at Riverside (Clinton, CT) and they have NO slips and appear to be very stable. Jack |
