Anchor Holding Power

Chuck had posted a excellant link to a product I purchased today. The product is an anchor retrieval system that seems to work like a champ !

During my search for this product I found another interesting product that increases your anchors holding power. It is a weight with some kind of rollers that slide down you anchor line. This product is supposed to change the angle of the boats pull on the anchor. Thus increasing the anchors holding power greatly. Check it out www.anchorbuddy.co.nz/technics.html

I dont know

For the money they want and the fact that you need to go fwd. to deploy and retrieve the thing , Im not lovin the thing,

Befor id used that I would either add a longer length of chain . Or if you want to try it for effect Use your standard length of chain then add a 20 to 50 ft lenght of rope and then add another 20 ,30 lbs of chain If you want to keep the lenght short use heavy guage chain. Then shackle on rope. Just drop it slow so it wont foul . should do the same job without the additional rope and equipment.

for my money i'd keep it simple. anchors hold by design more than weight. use enough chain & heavy enough guage to drag flat on bottom & proper scope is important also.
for retrieval when blackfising i use a danforth style with a "slide" ring shaft. allows for pulling out from behind the flukes.....fwiw mk

too expensive

my sinker guy would love it if I started to drift the reef for frogs.

My lead bill would go through the roof
