Old Mud, Nice Set up. The davit is nice-it allows for more flexibility for
hauling pots, anchors or in your case Giant tuna (do you really use it for
that? LOL -Cool!!). I say the same thing as you - Best thing I ever did for the boat.

WOW ,Certainly a nice hook up . I'd need a whole lot more boat to do that I think.but maybe I could down size all the rigging to fit . something to think about.I just had spinal fusion surgery trying to make things easier .

Capt rick: Thanks I like the set up you have on you're fwd. deck. But I can't use a set up like that because I have to be able to release my anchor Within seconds. I have a cleat above my hauler , anchor rode tied with slip knot ,line goes up through sciend chock. anchor line comes up to a polly ball and about 50 to 75 ft. to the boat. Upon hookup hit blower switch, start engine and pop the line. Do everthing right and when I come back with the fish in tow I pick up my line and tie off. That davit is only made out of 2" emt. No trouble with the anchor but won't touch a tuna.

In my Image gallery I have pics. of jin pole with 2 ton winch. No problem. . I like the idea of the enclosed box, I burned my first motor out because of dampness and low amprage. As you say very important to have full amprage under load.

Bryan I'm Just a fisherman no need to be honored! LOLOL. You made me go back and look at my pics. LMAO. What do you see that I don't??. every pic. is a mess. I try to keep a clean and clear deck but after that fish is landed all bets are off. Maybe this season if the fish show we could try it. No sense riding all the way up here if there are no fish. Chuck I didn't mean to hy-jack you'r thread I just get enthused talking about it.

No need to be neat and tidy all the time. I am a shop teacher, and my shop gets messy from time to time. I tell people if the place is too clean it means you ain't doin nutin.

Guys, what's the best way to attach two anchor lines together while offshore. I know ultimately splicing them together before hand, but just wondering how to do it if I needed to add more line while on the boat.

Depends on the rode end .If a braided loop then maybe a clevis .If you tie a knot more than likely you'll be cutting it to untie it
