Thumbs down Boating accident in Old Saybrook...

What a shame this was. Drinking(too much) and boating is no different than drinking/driving car. This didn't need to happen.

Simple safety lanyard could have saved a life.

I try to stay out of the river on weekends. Place is a zoo.

Well the drunk guy is certainly liable for somthing but what the hell was the idiot in the yellow boat thinking. The driver of that boat ought to also be charged.

I'd say he was trying to be a hero........but I'd hate to be accused of being a Monday Morning Quarterback LOL.

Anyway, very foolish to try to LASSO a boat underway like that, especially when it is slightly larger or the same size, as yours......

Looks like he had thrown a rope to it, missed, the rope then got caught in the motor as the boat came around, and he was beam-to, pulled the stern down (probably cleated off to stern), swamped it quick, and game over.

Should have let the "authorities" do their job....there really was no immediate danger......the motor was turned, and it would continue to go round and round until they figured something out.
