After 5 day's of bringing other folks out fishing, My buddy at the marina offered me a relaxing day of fishing on his boat. Headed to the Nrip then SW corner, acouple drifts and nothing on our eels. The skipper liked to leave his motor idleing ,as do many people. I told him that I wanted some peace and Quiet and to shut that noisey 350 off. When he went to start , it didn;t turn over. After about 20 minutes and all the tricks to revive a sick starter, He called sea tow which he and I belong to. They had one on the hook in PJ and said they would be over in a couple hours. They showed up 70 minutes after the call to our location ( in front of SE light) where we were achored catching huge torpedos. David was the capt. and was very courteous , hooked us up promply ,and it was a nice quiet cruise back to wakefield @ 8 knots, too bad there were no tuna or we could have trolled back. D avid put us into the slip smoother than Louie ever did on his own power, lou siogned the slip ,and wished david a good day. In this day and age where I;m not generally happy about the servic I get anywhere, I can't squawk about sea tow so far.

They are just huge skates, Actually someone won $ 1500.00 in the greenhill fluke contest with a 20# er for non game prize, not bad. I cut the wings off and want to try them ,I heard they taste like scallops. Any recipes out there ?

2nd tow in 2 weeks this Sat., 1st was on a buddys boat 2nd on mine. I broke my stearing cable sat @ the north rip, First pass we doubled up on nice stripers , turned to do it again and nothing. took off piston to try staring manually and get to fluke grounds @ clayhead before calling see tow without very good results so I threw anchor . Dave was there in about a half hour, boy I'm getting to know him too well. We got to the harbor of refuge and the wall of shame fight in the middle of the blessing of the fleet, great advertieing for sea tow , but not for sea donkey. anyway it's the best $129.00 I ever spent.

| Skates do not taste anything like New England scallops. I tried skate wings last year, interesting organization of its flesh (sort of reminded me of corrugated cardboard with the outer layer removed) and it was not bad tasting but somewhat bland and soft in its texture when steamed or boiled. There is a reason why the wholesale price of NE scallops is over $12 per pound. You would be a very lucky person if you could not taste the difference between skates and scallops as you would save yourself a fortune.
