i suggest using a fly tying vise. you can get these for as low as 20$. just make sure it has a large enough clamp for saltwater hooks. Last edited by REDNECK; 04-14-2007 at 06:26 AM. | ||

| here are the materials needed. you will need a large bobbin, thread, small scissors, and cement. for cement i use sally hansen hard as nails, you can get this in the nail polish isle at cvs, or wherever they sell nail polish stuff, make sure to get the clear. you can also use head cement, but i find it to be a pain in the ass, the sally stuff works fine for me. | next, choose your hook, in this case i am using a 5/0 siwash, and clamp it in your vise. i like to do an underwrap of thread, i find the bucktail to stay much better with this. i also put a thin coat of cement over this wrap. Last edited by REDNECK; 04-14-2007 at 06:26 AM. | ||

| i then cut a small bunch of hair from each tail. after i have all the colors, i put them together, and trim the edge on the eyelet side of the hook even. i then apply the hair to the hook placing the trimmed edge just a bit before the eyelet bend to allow for thread to wrap beyond the hair. like to make sure that the hair goes evenly around the hook, and i like to place the colors according to the colors of the plug, in this case i put the green hair on top, and the yellow on bottom. | next, wrap your hair. wrap evenly while holding pressure on the thread. i wrap until you cannot see any excess hair, try to wrap as tightly as possible so the hair stays in place. i then apply a generous layer of cement to the thread, all around the wrap.
