OK - As Promised - forgot what it takes. Lotsa work putting this together - Please forgive some of the blurry pics - I'll cover epoxy and thru-wiring next, but for this thread I'm going to cover turning the blank thru paint and eyes First step is to select a clean blank - | ||

| Next step is to mark and punch the centers - I use a home made center finder - works like a charm. | ||

| Mark your blank to define the ends and any transitions in the profile. I use simple templates - the widths on the templates are for different diameters that define the plug - in this case it's the large dia and the nose dia..the tail goes to a point.... | ||

| After turning and sanding the profile, go back and mark the important data points on the plug - in this case the belly holes and the weight hole - | ||

| Next it's off to the band saw I cut off the nub ends and then use a "V" block with the mitre and cut the lip slot into the center of the plug. | ||

| I install the lip to mark the location of the thru hole on the nose end, then I remove the lip and use a center punch or awl to punch the centers in the nose and tail to give the drill bit a starting point. | ||

| Now that I have two references, the lip slot and the thru hole, I can easily eye up within 2 or 3 thosandths of an inch where to amrk the belly and weight holes - I do this by eye - don;t over complicate things with a jig unless it's necessary - | ||
