| here is the jig. 3 pieces of 1x4 pine, cheap crap at home cheapo. just screw them together, to give you a square corner and a base. Last edited by REDNECK; 04-14-2007 at 06:26 AM. | ||

| next, i center the wood using a veritas center marker, i got it through packard woodworks. and i use a punch to give the drill bit a starter guide hole. Last edited by REDNECK; 04-14-2007 at 06:26 AM. | ||

| i then place the jig on the drill press. using a short 5/32 drill bit, i drill through one end, and then flip the wood and drill through the other end. starting with a small bit gives you a nice straight hole. i then switch to a longer bit and simply run both ends again until they meet. | ||

Thanks for the tip. Now comes the question..  If I predrilled the center holes, Will the wood split when I tighten it on my lathe? Of course I will try it this week also. Thanks again. | ||
