i really like the unit. i am really considering one for my boat but im just not sold on it yet. I keep asking myself if it is so good why hasnt garmin , raymarine or lorance made one yet. humminbird had had it just about a year.

I've been using a Bottomline side scanner for 10+ years and it has really helped me eliminate unproductive waters. If I am not catching AND I'm not marking anything, I move on.

This really looks like the ticket for the boulder fields.....

I like the idea of that unit also, I just don't like the price. What is it at now? Last time I look I think it was $2000 grand or more, is that right?

I know Blaine from the "other site" has one and he was posting some screen shots of stuff in the race last year. Aparently there is a memory card that you can link to you computer. Pretty impressive images. Let us know what you decide.

The 797c loaded with all the maps is $1200 at Cabelas.

I just bought two 797 units for the work boats. Haven't installed them yet but I cant waite. I'm replacing them from the Garmin 178c units I have now.
