Typically a 4/0 or similar size reel (maybe a tad smaller if braid is permitted). Jigs are my preference, Dom can lay this out for ya. Fishing anywhere from 80-200+'.

Dom,

On the topic of line, if it is a private charter of the AC, is braid (or as Captain Walsh would say "spidah wire") permitted?, as I know it is not allowed on normal open boat fishing. If not, what about Dacron with a long top shot of 60# mono?

Glenn, whaaas up? Sharking will be here in no time, but until then, bottom fishies it is.

I use an Avet JX, and a Torium 20, loaded with 50 pound braid and a 60 pound topshot, never had any issues with breaking a fish off using these setups. Most guys use the Trini 14 or 20, the torium 20 or 30, the diawa saltist and saltiga 30, etc.

I try to jig 100% of the time, but every now and then must go to the dark side. The bait of choice is fresh clam, but some guys do well with herring or shrimp. Depths range from 98 feet to 380 plus, thus the need for braid. A higher retrieve also helps, and the jigs will be diamond, or norewgian style(3 sided) from 9 ounces up to 21 ounces depending on current and depth.

I will try and pick the best date in March that Jimmy can do on a favorable moon.

The Braid ban was put into effect after a clown chopped the top of his own finger off with it, but the rule is generally ignored, even on the open boat trips. There have been several instances where braid was banned on a per angler basis, after their prowess(or lack there of) was discovered.

Dacron is always acceptable, but the spidah wya is better IMHO.

The depths could be on the deeper side, unless the couple of drops in 200 on the southern ridge of Wildcat and up against the beach off Truro hold fish.

I will be able to get fresh clam belly baits the day before the charter for us, for those into the snot dunking thing.
