Too many Large Mouth?????

Fishin in the back yard, and Im catchin Large Mouth one after the other, however, the biggest I've got is about 16 inches. I fished the whole lake and same thing. I dont know if its an over population issue or what. Any suggestions.

Feed them buckets of shinners
Eat a few every week
If there all around the same size it sounds like population issues

It's possible, but usually they are smaller when overpopulation is the problem. Are the lake's prey species, i.e.. Bluegill and Perch, in fewer numbers, but above average in size? Because that's also an indication that the bass population is stunted.

We used to fish a local pond where it was easy to catch 40 small 12" size bass, we thought the population was stunted, but then catching a 6lb every couple years proved we were wrong.

Chuck is right with the food and thinning out a few, if it is indeed over populated, but at 16", it sounds like a good fishing spot. Keep catching them and the few that get hooked in a bad spot like the gills, that would probably die anyway, would be a good choice for the pan.

Thanks for the advice. I've noticed some sunnies that are larger then I have seen in a while, but the nimbers are not plentiful. Perch are average size, low numbers, and the Crappie are certainly plentiful. Years ago the lake was loaded with Pickerel, but I have been livin on the lake two years now and havent hooked into one yet.
