What have you got to say about the topic of: "Clam Rakes...". Here's how is started: "Where can I find a few good clam rakes. I have looked at rib rakes "

| Clam Rakes... Where can I find a few good clam rakes. I have looked at rib rakes and kb white company. Rakes look good. Rib rakes has not returned an email and kb white will not sell until spring...looking for a little guidance.

| Try the following web site: R.A. Ribb Company - Commerical Clam Rakes I called them up and over the phone they designed and priced a small bull rake for me. I can no longer push about a 30 inch bull rake, but always knew that it is the only way to take in large quantities of clams quickly. I never accepted their quote because it carried a justifiable but quite a hefty price. I decided to stick with my old tongs; while not as effective as a bull rake, it would usually take only about one hour and fifteen minutes to limit out. The town of Stonington only allows 1/2 bushel of clams per day; still for personal use, that quite a bit of good eating. |

| I've got several, including tongs, that belonged to my Dad, who passed away a few years ago at age 96. I will never use them. If you are interested pm me. You can stop by and take a look. They are for sale. |

| Plugmeister, I might be interested as my tongs are falling apart, they are as old as I am. Let bgfishguy have the first shot at them as my stuff still works. If nothing happens then post a picture of the business end so I can see if they are oyster or clam tongs. Length is not critical to me since I clam in only ten feet of water and probably would have to cut the sticks down somewhat anyway. Did it ever occur to you that maybe your dad did so well in longevity is because he dug clams. Clamming is not a bad way to keep active. |
