Cockenoe Island Clamming

I'm unsure at this point in time as to whether or not I need a permit to clam cockenoe island in westport/norwalk, as I don't know which towns jurisdiction the island falls under. i read something about westport proposing a clamming permit for 2008 which I would assume could be used for clamming at cockenoe, but don't know if I need a permit to go clamming at cockenoe island during 2007. thanks guys.

From what i have been told that is the only place in CT you DO NOT need a permit to clam. Other than that you need a permit for EVERY dam town you want to clam in. Ya right. More dum ass CT laws.

My wifes friend brough me a bucket full of large clams and pissers from there. She says she goes all the time and gets them all the time.

Thanks. I clam there periodically every year to get some clams for picnics, but haven't been clamming there this year as I was unsure about the permit situation. That clears it up for me for now... at least until the end of this year. Thanks again.
