No B$ The Rookie Fly Files

Alright Let me begin by giving a big thanks to the thousands of replies I received regarding the help I need to begin my journey into the Fly for stripers...... one response! Thanks Hank! Needless to say this did not stop me I have begun my solo endevor "To Catch A Striper Using Fly". And I will continue to post this pursuit in hopes in may help another rookie who chooses to attempt this great feat!!!!
10/14/07 After trying desperately to get the gear I needed for a reasonable price under $500.00 I relized this was impossible, That is until I remembered that I had an antique fly rod in my basement that may be worth something, So I brought it to this place called the Bears den in Taunton it was recc by those guys at baymens they said to speak to Scott he would be able to help me. So to make a long story short Scott went way out of his way to help me and let me use my bamboo fly rod as a trade for the gear I needed Big Big thanks Scott, I hope that customized bamboo rod is worth millions at least its in the right hands LOL. So I got an pretty decent rod a great reel and Scott set up the backing and other stuff that I did not even had a clue what he was saying but kept nodding my head and staying stuff like oh ya, thats cool and hoping he would not ask me to make any choices cuz I really didnt have a clue. All in all Scott was great and his shop can defintely meet the rookies like me and even the best of pros who kept piling in the joint.
10/19/07 3:15 pm my first venture out
As I slowly gazed around the parking lot in hopes that not too many people would see me I began to feel a little better about the possibility of completely embarrassing myself. The place scussett beach Plymouth Ma,
this beach is just beside the Cape Cod Canal which at any given time 100 of the worlds most intraverted group of men cast away in hopes of the big one. No way was I going over to the canal My destination was the far far left side of Scusset away from anything resembling a man woman or child who may laugh in histerics as this man in jean cut off shorts t shirt and a red wings hat ties 3 football fields worth of deluxe super micro blistering stealth fly line around my head neck and other parts of my body!
then I began the swift pull back to the 2-3 -4 oclock something that I read forward to 10 o clock and back again and with each thrust forward a sense of confidence grew and grew and before you know it my sens of timing threw off like someone stick a hockey stick in my spokes to my bike
and the micro super deluxe infared stealth super fly line landed in a big nest style roll 2 feet in front of me, so I reeled it all in backwards bye the way ( put the reel on reverse ) nice...hey you stop laughin remember I am a rookie for christ sake. So after the same cycle over and over again I relized I may want to read or go online and seek proffessional assistance regarding this whole timing thing I mean really couldnt it just be back and forth for crying out loud I have a bad enough time telling time never mind tryin to find it with a 9' 7-10 lb Scotty aproved super fly rod!!!
to be continued
ps my wrist hurts
