10/8/07 We had some crazy weather this week, just like early July with lots of fog. But unlike July, there are falsies around now, and they draw a lot of fly guys, and some of them are real idiots. They don’t understand what can result when a 25’ outboard doing 20 knots meets a 42’ charter boat. It can get pretty scary. The good weather has given the few boats that had tuna trips left on the books some pretty hot action, resulting in up to a dozen albacore per day trip. I don’t know if any of the charterboats have anything left on the books, although private guys can make a trip whenever they get a window. The striped bass fishing is finally picking up, both in quantity of fish as well as quality. The TOP HOOK had a 67 pound fish on Saturday using bait, and the VENTURE had one of 52 pounds on wire. The bluefish are still a pain though. The standings in the Locals Tournament are as follows: WADERS DIVISION 1 Place: Gary Aprea......... 24 lbs YOUTH DIVISON 1. Place: Ben Mccarron ......13 lbs 2.Place: Taylor Harned...... 12 lbs LADYS DIVISION 1 Place :Mary E Kane.......14.26 lbs 2 Place: Lorretta Sears......12.80 lbs WETSUIT DIVISION 1 place: John Bruno......... 28 lbs | ||
