First Hoo 4/03/07

Just back from my first fishing trip in FLA. Went out of Jupiter with my Dad and Capt. Rob Mazzei of SailKing Charters. Had a ton of fun on the trip. Fishing was a bit slow for all of the boats out there (radio chatter) but I was not dissappointed.

We landed/relelased some big false albies (aka bonita), a couple of amberjacks never made it to the surface before they were taken by bull sharks (double header) resulting in one bullshark landed/released (the other got the better of the amberjack and left me with a head on a hook) we had a very powerful run-off that broke the leader after a 5-10 minute fight. The real heartbreaker was a red-hot sailfish that took a surface bait and took off on a powerful run with a couple of aerial maneuvers and then spit the hook . The most notable catch was a 40+lb wahoo that I landed after a 15 minute fight.

Had an awesome time and I can't wait to get down there again ... but for now I am readying my boat for the season up north!

Joe.

PS: Picture is me on left and Capt Rob on the right and the Wahoo between us
