Orlando Fishing

I have only been fishing for a few years and dream of fishing in FL. I have been fishing VA and NC for a few years now so I'm not an noob. Fortunately my brother just took a job in Orlando. I am pretty unfamiliar with the fishing culture down there aside from what I read on here and in magazines. So now that I have a place to stay where should I start? I'm a big fan of skinny water and fly fishing but love it all just as well.

I also have a brother in orlando closer to coco beach I'm going down the 24th of Jan will let you know how we do.

I would head over to the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and fish the Mosquito Lagoon for redfish and trout. It's the closest saltwater to Orlando. http://www.nbbd.com/godo/minwr/pdf/MINWRmap00.pdf
If you fish there, you need to have a self issuing permit available on their website. Winter is an excellent time to fly fish there as the fish are eating mainly small crustaceons such as crabs and shrimp. There are multiple roads along the shore which offer access to wading. Fish the sand holes surrounded by grass for both species.
