Attention Captains, Mandatory TWIC Requirements

Not sure if you know about the TWIC, Transportation Workers Identification Card. Every Licensed Captain will be required to have one by Sep 2008. A CG employee who is the local expert came down to the Stellwagen Bank Charter Boat Meeting and did a presentation and answered questions.

Here's a PDF version of the presentation (just click on the thumbnailed title page below).

You'll need the Adobe Acrobat Reader to view it, so if you don't have it, here's a link to download it too

I would get on top of this as soon as possible, I applied in December and did not get a call an email until early March, this was supposed to be a 2-4 week wait. Now they are telling people 6-8 weeks but being pessimistic I am thinking longer. So get the ball rolling ASAP.

more beaurocracy and fees for us to pay.
i went to the web site to pre register & it sent me in circles trying to get an I.D.#. must fill forms to get I.D.# but it requires the I.D.# to register for an I.D.#.???????????

i may be 'puter illiterate but i'm totally confused as to compliance now.
may just ignore the whole fiasco.
oh yeah.....the telephone help line is automated & refers you to the web site!
