Capt Claude Adams and the Lady Margret

I recently joined this site and noticed that a number of postings come from around Long Island Sound. While I am now living and fishing on the Gulf Coast my fishing roots go back to New England and in particular Niantic and New London. Last week I attended the funeral of a dear friend and outstanding charter boat captain. For those of you that fish the Race you have probably seen Capt Claude Adams and the Lady Margret fishing near Valiant Rock one of Claude's favorite holes. I first meet Claude in 1955 at the old Marster's Dock in New London. The following year Claude got his captain's license and started fishing with the first Lady Margret formerly the My Pal II which was owned by Tony Faria. Tony's son formed Faria Instruments which many of you are probably familiar with. In any event, I wanted to share the news of Claude's passing. There are not many folks that have been in the charter business for over fifty years. At Claude's funeral last Thursday in Niantic I saw many old friends and it was clear from the number of people in attendance Claude was well liked and respected.

Thats a shame.. I have known Mr Adams, his sons Claude and Donny
for many years.there is another brother but forgot his name. Good
hard working 3 generations of fishermen. I did alot of trips on the Wanderer
with Claude III. Once a year Claude sr would lets us take the Lady Margaret
to the canyons for a two day tuna trip, that went on for ten years.
These guys are very good inshore fishermen, they were more like friends
then just charter captains, had plenty of good times, caught plenty of fish
nothing fancy old school all the way. Have to take a ride up and see how
ClaudeIII is doing. Too Bad
