Electronic Information Sessions With Manufacturers Reps

West Marine periodically invites manufacturers to have sessions with who ever wishes to attend these free exchanges of info. While walk-ins are not turned away, advance registration is recommended (we have to know how many chairs to put out). I am an electrical engineer, but there is just too much out there such that it boggles my mind. So if you have technical questions about past, current, or future gear, here is your chance to speak with the pros. One of the things that I heard is coming is if one goes to the weather page of their newer Garmin units, fishing information maps can then be brought up. I never have been too impressed with fishing maps since fish move all over the place. However, this appears to be quite different. Garmin is forming network of charter boat captains which will involve feedback from the captains themselves. Hot spots that have declined will be updated and visa versa. Not sure exactly how this will work or the time lags involved in the updating process, but I sure hope some captains attend a couple of these exchanges and explain what it means to the rest of us. I am not a canyon type!
