NO ESPN AT OAK BLUFFS monster shark!!!!!

Heard a rumor that this years monster shark tournament will not be covered by ESPN this july. I called Steve James to confirm wich he did but he told me he has another network lined up to cover all the action.I will let you know when it happens for sure

I also sent a letter to ESPN to let them know how I felt about them dropping the coverage.
below is the address if anyone would like to do the same.

Write directly to ESPN head George Bodenheimer:
George Bodenheimer, President
ESPN Inc. and ABC Sports

Was there larger prize money because ESPN was involved?

prize $$$

I don't think so
all prize $$ is side bets more boats enter more $$$$$
the boat and gear is the prize for winning

I thought they did a very shitty job covering it last year.

They show footage of mostly Yahoos and what place did the girls have in it? That was tacky. Presents sharking in a bad light, with all the clowns that really shouldn't be sharking grabbing the lens.

But that's just me, and my opinion

You’re right Eric. ESPN did us all a disservice by highlighting the yahoos. Being from the NE and a shark fisherman it was embarrassing to watch.

I also agree

not alot of footage because of the poor weather but what they did show wasn't up to par.

VS network to cover tourney...

I spoke with Steve over the weekend, about a slip issue I had, and he told me VS network would be picking it up. ESPN enjoyed very good ratings the first two years, but last years was a media fiasco, and they took alot of abuse from PITA as well as many parents because of the Playboy bunny thing. Those girls had no place in the tourney or the show, IMHO.

I was a bit dissapointed in BBGFC decision to nix all other species of sharks except Mako, Thresher, and Porbeagle. Why change a format that has worked for 20 years all of a sudden? They caved in to the enviro pressure, it appears to me. The minimum size could have been raised to 300 pounds on any other species of shark, and the single point instead of the 1.5 wasa enough of a leveler to keep the tourney exciting.....I only see maybe 10-15 sharks being weighed in this year. The large blues and tigers provided good research info for the biologists, and kept that option open strategy wise. I suppose it will make the tourney even more challenging to place, but I still say keep it the way it was...

Oh, great LOL.......

After VS's "great job" on the East vs. West fiasco....

"Shock TV"......it ends up leaving the good fishermen "out" and the clowns "in".

LOL. HERE WE GO !!!Bunnies and Yahoos Make for "Entertaining Footage" . Hey, maybe they could start a weekly Reality show where every week all go out and work up a chum line, Then the fisherman voted off would get thrown in and ....................Oh nevermind!!!! . (This is a joke, not to be taken seriously ) Practicing my typing skills. LOL.

The problem is Reality TV is NOT !!!
