| Final Rules, Registration Form, and Slip | | The 1st Annual NBS SharkFest 2008: Rules - Minimum size for weigh-in is 150#. Makos & Threshers are the target species for this event. Blue Sharks should be released, unharmed (tagged if possible), as should any other shark species that you won't be eating or registering for a record.
- Sharks caught while fishing in any other tournament or event are NOT eligible for weigh-in, period.
- Ports of departure will be from CT, MA, RI, ME, NY & NJ only.
- NBS SharkFest will begin 6/1/2008 @ 00:00:01, and end on 8/31/2008 @ 23:59:59.
- There is a $100 entry fee per team, paid in advance of the SharkFest start date. The team can consist of up to 6 persons.
- The registered NBSSportfishing.com member who registers the team must provide all names of those on the team (all members are encouraged to join NBS, so as to keep track of the results and join in on the trash talking).
- A team captain/lead must be declared as part of the entry. The captain/lead is who would collect any proceeds from the NBS SharkFest 2008 event.
- All the above must be submitted on the official entry form.
- Crew members, who are non captain/lead persons, can be included on no more than 3 teams. The "teams" must be posted in advance of the SharkFest 2008 start date. The "teams" must be declared no later than 5/31/2008 in the appropriate thread, by the team captain/lead.
- Entry fee checks are to be received no later than 5/31/2008. Checks are to be made payable to "cash". Mailing instructions are on the registration form. If the entry fee is not received by that date, the team will be disqualified from participation. No exceptions.
- All sharks must be caught on a trip where 2 or more of the registered team are on the vessel, and the named captain/lead must be part of that crew. The trip plan must be posted in advance, on NBSSportfishing.com, in the assigned thread, listing the captain/lead, crew, and boat being fished. If the trip is not announced and posted in advance, it will not qualify for SharkFest inclusion.
- Multiple fish can be entered in NBS SharkFest 2008.
- Pool proceeds will be paid for the highest weight Mako or Thresher caught during the SharkFest entry period. In the event of a weight based tie, proceeds will be split evenly.
- All sharks to be considered eligible must be weighed on a certified scale in your area. As part of each entry for inclusion, the fish must be photographed on the scale, with the weight in view. In addition, the crew should be in at least one accompanying photo. A formal NBS SharkFest 2008 weigh in slip must be remitted as well, signed by the entire crew, along with the weigh-in station attendant.
- Charter boats are welcome; however, when fishing for NBS SharkFest, it must be a pleasure trip not being conducted as part of their business. To clarify this a bit further, a registered team (as detailed above) can charter a boat and enter the NBS SharkFest. This must be notated on the weigh-in slip, and disclosed in the post announcing the qualifying trip (as detailed above). This is a sticky topic, and we will not go back and forth on it. If a Charter Captain (whom is entered in SharkFest) runs an outing for a "team" as a paid charter, the Captain running that boat is not eligible to enter the fish on his/her behalf.
- There will be no refunds of the entry fees, under any circumstance. If you can't get out all season, then so be it. Proceeds will be donated to a fishing or maritime charity, which will be decided by the registered teams, via a poll.
- This is a rod & reel ONLY event. IGFA rules will NOT be applied.
- This is a recreational event and commercial interests are not eligible.
- Rulings and decisions regarding this event will be levied by a selected group from the Team NBS Administration team and their delegates, to be determined prior to the event. All rulings made will be considered final and not subject to appeal.
- Calcutta's will be handled separately, but in a centralized format to be published as well.
