Left the dock @ 6:30 to try and avoid the morning chop.It did lay down as the day went on.
Sharking was the plan ,we had plenty of chum and baits. After a long ride out we tried trolling for tuna around two dragger seas were still large and we had no joy.
Stopped to groundfish and after 1/2 hr or so we hooked into what we thought was a shark. After trading of the cod rod ( Avet 60 on ugly stick) a few times we all were pretty sure it was a tuna and not a shark. We broke him off after 45 min. Bummer!
We managed to land some nice pollock,Haddock redfishand cod and one very large sea anemone.
7 mile run set up for shark again in 250 ft 1/2 hr we are tight.Dan made easy work of this small Blueshark. He comes up tail wrapped and his mouth is wired shut with the leader and he has no water going over his gills. We clear the cockpit and Jerry and I bring him onboard to cut the leader free. Quick pic tag and back in the water took a while to get him to kick but he did swim and dive and gave us one nice splash before he was gone. We did hookup one more time on the shark rod but after a short run the hook pulled free. All in all a great day on the water.
