Make-A-Wish? Tuna Challenge
Welcome to the Make-A-Wish Tuna Challenge. We hold an annual tuna tournament and fundraiser in San Diego with all of our proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation? of San Diego, Inc. Since 1991, we have grown to become the largest tuna tournament in the continental United States.

The Tuna Challenge 2005 was a complete success raising $300,000. This donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation? of San Diego will help to fund 25% of their wishes this year! Congratulations to Curtis Parker from the team ?No Limits? for being this year's Grand Prize winner. To see the results, placements, and photos from this year's tournament see below:

New Sport Boat Division!
This year, individual anglers who have been unable to fish in the Private Boat Division of the Tuna Challenge Tournament will have the opportunity to participate in a terrific new way! Thanks to the generosity of Jan Kirk and Pacific Outdoor Adventures, two boats, the Samurai (65 ft.) and the International Star (80 ft.), will carry limited loads for the exclusive use of tournament anglers.

Sport Boat Division participants will compete in their own category and prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers. The 1st Place Finisher will win a Shimano Tyrnos 2 Speed Reel (TYR 2011) and a Tallus Stand Up Rod (TLT66 L), the 2nd place finisher will win a mid-range fishing reel or an overnight fishing trip for (2), and the 3rd place finisher will win a custom fishing rod! (prizes subject to change) In addition, all anglers will receive an official participation bag, which includes a tournament shirt, awards banquet ticket, and individual angler bag.

A special tournament entry fee of $35 for the Sport Boat Division (written to Tuna Challenge 2006) has been set for this year. Boat Fees for a 1 ? -day fishing trip including Mexican permits will be $235 for the Samurai and $250 for the International Star. Boat fees may be paid in 2 installments and will be paid directly to Samurai Sportfishing or International Star Sportfishing. The tournament application must accompany the tournament entry fee. You may also sign up at the Pacific Outdoor Adventures Booth, next to the H&M Landing Booth at the Fred Hall Shows.

Join Us at West Marine in Point Loma on September 2nd
Please join us on Saturday, September 2nd, from 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m., at the West Marine Pt. Loma Store, for a very special Make-A-Wish event. The 2006 Make-A-Wish Tuna Challenge Committee, will receive 5% of all sales for this day, to help grant wishes for children with life threatening medical conditions here in our San Diego area. So please save up all of your boating and fishing shopping to do on September 2nd! There will be free family fun with children receiving balloons and all attendees enjoying free hot dogs and sodas (while supplies last.)

The Tuna Challenge Committee members will be there to sign up Junior and Adult anglers to fish in the tournament (September 30 - October 1st) in both the Private Boat and Sport Boat Divisions. We will have lots of information available about our terrific upcoming Tuna Seminar on Thursday, September 7th, and will have our gorgeous special grand raffle prize, the ZX20 Skeeter Bay Boa (winning ticket to be drawn at the Tuna Challenge Banquet on October 1st) on display and will be selling tickets for a chance to win.

Tune In to 1170 AM from 4-6 PM for Tuna Challenge Tournament Highlights
This year, we're very fortunate to have the All Outdoors Radio Network (KCBQ- AM 1170) join us for a live broadcast of their great show, right from the Tuna Challenge Banquet on Sunday, October 1st. The two wonderful hosts of the show, Capt. John Grabowski and Ed Zieralski, will be their all day to talk fishing with all interested fishermen and women attending. Then, right after the conclusion of the Tuna Challenge Awards Banquet, from 4-6 p.m., Capt. John and Ed will announce and interview the lucky Tournament winners, the grand raffle prize winner of the Skeeter Bay Boat, and let everyone know about all of the exciting happenings from the Tournament and event.

If you can't actually attend our Tuna Challenge Banquet in person, be sure to tune in to hear the latest Tournament results and all the happenings on the All Outdoors Radio Network (KCBQ- AM 1170) on October 1st, and every Sunday from 4-6 p.m. with hosts Capt. John Grabowski and Ed Zieralski. They will make sure the anglers get the very latest fishing information.

Wishes Do Come True!
The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. It is the largest wish-granting charity in the world, with 77 chapters in the United States and its territories and 27 international affiliates on five continents. All all of the proceeds from the Tuna Challenge go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego. Read more about some of the wishes that have been granted by donations such as ours.
