    38 rampage cats

I was on a 38 rampage 3406b cats. I think that they where 2004 engines. The volt meters where reading 16 then drop to 11 then back up.Whats the story?

I have seen this before usually means low battery charge after running for an hour or so it should level out if not there is a problem it will still start because there are multiple batteries in each bank for each motor

Im just trying to pick a brain. We had to replace an isolator because it melted. They did that and 3 new batteries. We had hopenn on the boat. They said nothing ran a dyno on the engines. We talked to a mechanic at montauk he said one alternator is shot. Thgey needed to be bench tested. Why not just replace the two of them and be done with it? Do you think the batteries are still good? almost 17 volts.

If the batteries are standard lead acid just top them off with electrloyte from any autoparts store and they should be fine 17 volts really isnt that hi lots of stuff charges at14.3 volts so you are just a little over

here we are with problem number 2. We had a couple cat machnics on the boat today. Last 3 trips. When we pull in to montauk from saybrook. We loose the starbord engine. It dies right out. Its not like its running out of fuel. KNow it was origanly the port that started doing that. We took her hooked up to a comp today for a sea trial. No such luck ran her up and down the ct river. Any word what it might be. The boat is so much trouble. It might go up for sale. Any ideas.
